A Forgotten Sunnah - A Way To Help Muslim Youth
Posted by AbdelRahman - 06/06/07 at 06:06 pmI’m sure that the slew of wedding invitations our families receive during wedding season every year has engrained the translation of 30:21, from Surat ar-Room, into our minds:
“And among His Signs is this: that He [Allah] created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find tranquility in them, and He has put between you love and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect.” 30:21 Continue reading A Forgotten Sunnah - A Way To Help Muslim Youth
How Strong Is A Mother’s Love?
Posted by AbdelRahman - 06/06/07 at 06:06 pmA Poem Taught At The AlMaghrib Class, Rules of Engagement
One day a man with an evil intention
deceived a boy with some money,
wishing to cause him some harm.
He said to him “bring me the heart of your mother,
and I will give you a lot of reward.”
So this ungrateful boy went,
stabbed her, cut her open.
He pulled the heart out, and was bringing it to the man
As he tripped and fell down,
the heart came out of his hand and got dusty.
As he looked up, he heard his mothers voice
coming from the heart saying
“Oh my son, are you hurt?”
Upon hearing the voice he was shocked,
He thought to himself “what have I done?”
He grabbed the dagger, intending to stab himself
Suddenly he heard the heart scream out,
“Please stop, my son, do not stab yourself and kill me twice!”
Fitting The Mold
Posted by AbdelRahman - 06/06/07 at 06:06 pmHow to become one of Allah[swt]s finest, as explained by Him
Alhamdulilah, in the last post we covered the fact that we have the final say before doing an action. Allah[swt] gave us the power to either give in to temptation, or to stomp on our shaytaans dreams by remaining righteous and going closer to Allah[swt].Aside from the last post, this is simply put and reaffirmed once again in Surat al-Israa, ayah 65, when Allah[swt] says to Shaytaan: Continue reading Fitting The Mold
It’s On Us
Posted by AbdelRahman - 06/06/07 at 05:06 pm“Do not bring your excuses this day!”
So we were doing tafseer of Surat Qaf last night, ayah 27.
“His companion will say ‘Our Rabb! I did not mislead him. He himself has gone far astray.’”
We were discussing the concept of sinning; what leads us to do it, and whether or not people are correct when they say “Shaytaan made me do it.” ‘Companion’ here is the arabic word qareenuhoo. This companion is not a friend or an angel. This companion is the shaytaan companion that every human has with them, the workers of the big Shaytaan (note the capital S). These shaytaan are the ones that whisper to us to try to convince us to sin, and tempts us to do things that we shouldn’t. Everyone has a qareenuhoo that is evil except Muhammad[saw] - he converted his to Islam. Continue reading It’s On Us
He Worried About Us So Much
Posted by AbdelRahman - 06/06/07 at 05:06 pmThe Least We Can Do Is Try
Whenever I am tempted to sin, or whenever I’m not praying with the right mindset - basically whenever I’m faulting, I try to think of this image.
Picture the Prophet [saw]. Picture Muhammad. Picture him being mocked, having garbage thrown at him, and beaten. Picture him worried about his people, worried about them displeasing Allah - worried about a punishment of Hell-fire that they may recieve.
Picture him walking, a worried look on his face, into the city of Taa`if. Picture children picking up rocks, while adults are laughing and yelling nasty things to him. Picture everyone in the city tossing rocks and other objects at him. Picture the Prophet getting hit all over - his face, his chest, his back. Picture blood rolling down his body, filling up his leather shoes.
Fast forward.
Picture Islam flourishing. Muslims are doing amazing, the Islamic state is booming. It’s 2 in the morning, pitch black outside.
Picture a man, Muhammad, with his forehead on the ground, and a small puddle forming under his face.
Picture a man crying in prostration, silent tears rolling on his face.
Picture Muhammad.
Listen. Listen to him whisper his plea to Allah [swt]. Listen carefully. Between sobs, he is saying “My Ummah, My Ummah.”
He was worried about us. He cried about us. It’s about time we honor his tears, his fears, and his worries. Let’s do what Allah wants, let’s do what Muhammad [saw] wanted us to do, and follow his ways as he instructed us through his sunnah.
Let’s do it.
