About AbdelRahman

My name is AbdelRahman Murphy. I’m currently studying at the University of Illinois at Chicago studying English Education and minoring in Religious Studies.

687090634_8929e50ff7.jpgAfter my years of studying English, I’ve realized that it’s a very dense and boring language to study; I love learning about Islam, though. This blog is just gonna be some freelance writings that I do in my spare time – actually, I do them when I’m supposed to be doing something else which is “more important”.

Anyways, I particularly enjoy Qur’anic reflections, stories from the Seerah and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad [saw], and contemporary Islamic issues dealing specifically with youth. Sometimes I branch out, though. Please note that I have absolutely no qualifications in any sort of Islamic science. All I talk about are personal experiences and reflections – if I make a mistake, please refrain from making fun of my stupidity and kindly give me advice on rectifying my error.

All in all, I’m just a American-Muslim Islamic Worker (quite a title, eh?) trying to get through college and into a job; more importantly, trying to get through life while attaining the pleasure of Allah [swt], and into Jannah.

About Mehreen

images.jpegMy name is Mehreen Khan, and I’m currently doing my undergrad at the University of Memphis. After going from pre-med to nursing, I finally settled on majoring in Elementary Education (K-6), and I love it Alhamdulillah! I am from Memphis, TN, and yes, I do speak with a bit of a Southern accent. I volunteer with AlMaghrib Institute in Memphis and with the local MSA at U of M.

My family is from Bangladesh, and my husband is half Egyptian and half white, which now makes me part of one heck of a mixed family.

I recently started blogging on here after several years of doing it at the good old xanga.com. I’m not that great of a writer, but I’m working on it, and therefore I would really like feedback from you so I know where to improve!

Enjoy the writings, insha Allah.

May Allah bless you young people – your faith, time, efforts, writings and any other endeavors you undertake to gain His pleasure. It’s heartening to see young people so sincere in their quest for knowledge of Islam, masha’Allah. Most of you American-born/based guys are better Muslims than some of the youth in Muslim-majority countries, one of which I live in (Pakistan). :)
    Keep the faith!
