Be Easy
Posted by AbdelRahman - 03/26/08 at 12:03 amI’m not gonna to lie, one of my side-intentions for going to Michigan to attend the MMYC Conference last weekend was to finally get some Tim Horton’s after such a long time.
Putting that aside, I was legitimately excited for the experience of meeting new brothers and seeing what this weekend was all about. Little did I know that it’d seriously change my life, no joke.
What’s Your Latitude of Gratitude?
Posted by AbdelRahman - 02/15/08 at 07:02 amIt never ceases to amaze me how Allah [swt] always reminds me to work on myself to become better in the most obvious and flat-out of ways.
As a part-time job, I work at the information desk of the student services building of my university. My work mainly consists of telling people that the bathroom is down the hall, to the right. Occasionally I’ll get a few rebels who actually ask something other than where the restrooms are, but for the most part, everyone needs to potty.

When Asking Allah, Leave Nothing
Posted by AbdelRahman - 01/17/08 at 09:01 pmDon’t you hate the fact that attendance can affect your grades, even when you’re paying thousands of dollars a year in tuition? Me too. I’m not trying to toot my own horn, but last semester I was doing really well on all of the assignments of one of my electives, alhamdulilah. A combination of easy grading on the professor’s part, and actually turned-in-on-time work on my part combined for some solid marks.
Then, it all went south.

with your morals, you are more sublime than musk;
with your modesty you are nobler than the full moon;
with your compassion you are more beneficial than rain…

How Strong Is A Mother’s Love?
Posted by AbdelRahman - 06/06/07 at 06:06 pmA Poem Taught At The AlMaghrib Class, Rules of Engagement
One day a man with an evil intention
deceived a boy with some money,
wishing to cause him some harm.
He said to him “bring me the heart of your mother,
and I will give you a lot of reward.”
So this ungrateful boy went,
stabbed her, cut her open.
He pulled the heart out, and was bringing it to the man
As he tripped and fell down,
the heart came out of his hand and got dusty.
As he looked up, he heard his mothers voice
coming from the heart saying
“Oh my son, are you hurt?”
Upon hearing the voice he was shocked,
He thought to himself “what have I done?”
He grabbed the dagger, intending to stab himself
Suddenly he heard the heart scream out,
“Please stop, my son, do not stab yourself and kill me twice!”
